Offspring Month: Happy Hour! (2010)

This one's a Japanese exclusive compilation, featuring some B-sider stuff, live versions, covers and a few remixes. Some rarities included, so it's worth a trip to Japan, on a ship. If you know what I mean.

Happy Hour! (2010)

Live performances:

  • Come Out and Play (Keep 'em Separated)
  • Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)
  • All I Want
  • Gone Away
  • Staring at the Sun
  • Hit That
  • Gotta Get Away
  • Damnit, I Changed Again

B-siders:

  • D.U.I          - Song written by Noodles, about a drunk ride on the highway. And another mention of Jägermesiter, mmmh.
  • Beheaded '99            - A good old friend from S/T, the version they are playing in the 1999 horror-comedy movie Idle Hands. Priceless scene.

Covers:

  • Sin City            - originally by AC/DC
  • I Got a Right            - originally by Iggy and The Stooges
  • Hey Joe            - Different version from the one on the Baghdad EP, less aggressive and lacks that rocking intro. Still ain't bad, and the quality is top-notch.
  • 80 Times            - originally by T.S.O.L.
  • Autonomy            - originally by Buzzcocks

Remixes:

  • Want You Bad (Blag Dahlia)            - Take the WYB vocals, put them on an early Eminem/Dr. Dre drum loop and you'll get this...  don't blame me for the reactions, though.
  • Why Don't You Get a Job? (Baka Boyz)            - This one's not that bad in the first two minutes, but then it gets old really fast. Drunk listening is recommended, it could get you some funny moments.
  • Million Miles Away (Apollo 440)            - Now this is a surprisingly enjoyable remix, mostly because the guitars weren't deleted for a change, but re-edited and put onto a bitchin' drum & bass beat.
  • Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) (The Baka Boyz Low Rider Remix)            - Mostly the same song, with half of the samples used on the Fight Club soundtrack thrown on it. Bit of an overkill.

OK, I know you wanted to see this. The Offspring in Idle Hands:

Next time's last time: Offspring Month days will go by.
